A strawberry margarita is everyone’s favorite summer cocktail. It’s fruity, festive, and with just 6 ingredients and a blender, you’ll have a frosty cocktail in minutes.
If you are on a vegan diet, substitute the honey with agave nectar. For a gluten-free margarita, make sure to use a gluten-free tequila. To make a larger batch, simply double or triple the ingredients. If you want a spicy kick to your margarita, just add a slice of jalapeño to the blender.

Strawberry Margarita Ingredients
For a thick and refreshing strawberry margarita (just like your favorite Mexican restaurant), use frozen strawberries. They’re economical, easy to find, and you won’t dilute your margarita with blended ice.
- Strawberries, of course! I generally make this recipe with thawed frozen strawberries (one 10-ounce bag is the perfect size for 4 margaritas). But if you have great fresh strawberries, they’d work well here too.
- Tequila – Use your favorite silver, or blanco, tequila here.
- Orange liqueur – Think Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or triple sec.
- Lime juice – Freshly squeezed, please! It makes this strawberry margarita tangy and bright.
- Simple syrup – For sweetness. Follow the herbed variation in the recipe to infuse it with fresh basil flavor. Of course, feel free to use regular simple syrup if you prefer.
- Salt – For the rim of the glass. Regular sea salt, kosher salt, and flaky sea salt all work well!
The margarita is a classic cocktail that originated in Mexico in the 1930s. It’s typically made with tequila, lime juice, and triple sec, but this recipe adds fresh strawberries for a fruity twist.
- Serve on the rocks or frozen with crushed ice
- Honey 1 Tablespoon
- Lime Juice 1 Ounce
- Strawberries 1 Cup
- Tequila 2 Ounces
- Lime wedges for garnish (optional)
- Salt, for rimming (optional)
- Ice
- In a blender, combine the strawberries, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and honey. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
- Add ice to the blender and blend until the mixture is slushy.
- If desired, rim the edge of a glass with salt. Pour the margarita into the glass.
- Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.
For a stronger margarita, add an extra ounce of tequila. For a sweeter margarita, add more honey.
